Meet Benny the Beagle…

Name: Benny (Beagle)
Gender: Male
DOB: 2007
Health: Vaccinated, dewormed, deflead & neutered

Benny was taken from a factory in Sunqiao area after the rescuer’s driver informed them that the owner did not want to have him as a guard dog and that they were going to abandon him. The rescuers went to the factory and happily took the dog away from the environment he was in. He had no shelter, blankets to lay on, and he was wearing a horrendous dog collar!
The rescuers took him to the vet and had him checked over.

He is healthy, super friendly and would be ideal to have as a family pet or a couple/individual willing to give him the time of day.
He is a pure bred Beagle and as they are classed as ‘hunting dogs’, they need to have plenty of walks & exercise.

China opens first dog food bakery

CHINA, May 19 (bdnews24.com/Reuters)– A bakery which makes biscuits and cakes just for dogs opens on the outskirts of Beijing just 35 years after a ban on people owning pets was lifted.

Huan and her friend are shopping for a birthday cake.  But it’s not for their friend it’s for their friends dog.
They’ve come to China’s first canine bakery just outside Beijing.

36-YEAR OLD BAKERY CUSTOMER HUAN, SAYING:
“Dogs normally just have dog food but the I heard about this place from a friend and thought I’d check it out.”
The Paopao Pet Bakery opened two months ago.

The biscuits may be for animals but the ingredients are what you might expect to find in any supermarket.
Owner Song Yu says its sweet potato, carrot and pumpkin bakes are selling like hot cakes.

BAKERY FOUNDER SONG YU SAYING:
“Forecasts show pet products may top 6.2 billion US dollars in 2012. If that’s the case, and if we can secure even a small share of the market, we will be extremely successful.”
Dogs are still a source of human food in some parts of China and they are still a long way behind Europe and America when it comes to spending on pets.
In Britain, pet lovers spent more than 12 billion dollars last year on pet food alone and it’s one of the few industries that continued to grow throughout the recession.

But less than 40 years ago just owning a dog in China was illegal – considered by Chairman Mao’s communist party to be too decadent when there wasn’t enough food for its people.

That changed after Mao’s death in 1976 and these party pooches are now free to have their cake and eat it.

Dear Marvin,
Do you remember Lotte?
We found her 4 weeks ago. She wandered in our compound and searched frantically connection.
Unfortunatelly we can not longer take care of her, because we will go back to Germany in January. Lotte is a very friendly dog and goes perfectly with other dogs.
Lotte is house trained, she is vaccinated and dewormed. Next week she will be neutered. Unfortunately we have not found a family that receives Lotte.
Maybe you know an opportunity to give Lotte to a family or to a foster family.
Please help us, there is no way out !
Please call me or write me an e-mail.

Lost Dog?

Dear All,

I want to first of all wish you all a Happy Christmas and all the very best for the coming New Year 2012!

It’s the same ol’ story with many strays being rescued in the winter months, many abandoned and vulnerable animals being found; JAR and many other groups (individual rescuers too) are to the max and to top it all off, finding lost animals!

With that said, we do have a lost dog in our home (we hope it is lost as I hate the fact that someone abandons an animal!) and we are trying to look for her rightful owner. She was found by a student in Green Court 2 – Jinqiao (Pudong) near building 20 circling around a waterfall fountain. The student asked around the compound, asked the management office, we contacted Mignon Boutique & Doggy House and unfortunately they had no customers that have reported a missing dog. After a few hours making calls and asking around, we then took the dog in for fostering and had her checked at the vet.

She is approx 7 to 8 years old Pomeranian. Spayed, healthy and we are assuming that she was groomed either on the day or a few days before she was rescued as she smelt of shampoo! She is currently in our home, house trained, quiet, loves to cuddle and gets along well with other dogs (we know this as we have 3 of our own!)

Please circulate this message and we hope that she can be reunited with her owner(s). Otherwise, we are happy to foster her till a permanent home is found.

Thank you for your support and cooperation.

MERRY CHRISTMAS & A HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!!

Kind regards,

Marvin
